Holy white trash, Batman!!! Sorry, hopefully I didn't offend anyone, that's just what I see when I see a trike like that. Making due is one thing, but DANG that's ugly.

Not only is it hideously Fugly - and that's giving it credit for being a work in progress - it also won't work. That rear axle is obviously from a car/truck because the differential is centered. There is no easy way to get the power from the rear left side of our transmission moved over to that center location without causing major issues. Well - without building a custom power-transfer gear that sits inbetween somewhere anyway - but that would be a HUGE power robber....

See, that's not really my style (trikes really aren't in general), but that's at least 100 times better than the first one.

I'm not really in to them either... Just happend to come across this one for sale the otherday. But yea you're right, it's a hell of a lot nicer even if it's not an XJ.

I've seen a couple of XJ trikes on ebay recently...

The Virago trike looks like some thought went into it when they had it on the drawing board. The details are nice.

The XJ trike looks like it came straight-off the cocktial napkin. Somebody needs to drop a hint on the design team that they ought to find a live axle off of a Yamaha or Honda ATV; because that Carolla rear-end is going to be a tough hook-up.

(I want to know if they plan on just using U-joints to make the drive connection ... so I can put a few bucks into U-joint futures.)

While I agree the original trike is fugly, I suspect the power hook up will be just fine.

Even though our drives are left of center, it's only by a few inches. With the distance to the rear axle the flex in the u joints will be less than what the bikes have in normal suspension travel.

Just a stupid question, how would you back them up. I would think it would be heavy and pretty hard to get them to back up without a transmission to help.

Like I said, just a stupid question.

Well, if that's a stupid question, then I'm right there with you being stupid. I wonder how they'd be able to do that myself.

Methinks backing them up is a push-n-grunt affair - certainly no add-on reverse gear for these guys!

Plus 10 for engineering and machining.

Minus 15 for style and common sense.

Mine is relatively easy to push back from the drivers seat (as Long as you're not on gravel!!! ). And as someone else has said, my wife is usually on the back - therefore I have a reverse gear!!!!

I('m not talking out of turn, she has heard me say that before (still got the bruises!!)

    LincsTriker,

I checked out your pics in the Photo Gallery, your trike is pretty cool, how long is that thing? Just curious.

I like it, Looks like you can fit 4 people on it, that would be something I would like to do so I could take my wife and 2 kids with me on benifit rides.

    Like I said, cool trike.

It's 10'1" from front of the front tyre to the number plate.

It's only registered for three people, the small pillion seat covers all the electrics, there is no really safe place to put your legs if you're sat on it, back brake reservoir on the right and the propshaft is pretty close on the left.
Thanks for the compliments, and glad it didn't fall into the "white trash" catagory   .
