I was doing some maintenance to my bike over the weekend and decided to check the front brake resevoir. However, I could not get one of the two screws out. I unfortunately mangled the screw head while trying to remove it. So, the question is how do I get it out and once I do what size screw do I replace it with? Also, will I need some sort of gasket to go under the resevoir lid???

    Regards,

    W. D.

Cool thanks for the info. I have hit it with the PB Blast. So I will try wiggling it out again perhaps tonight or tomorrow. Again thanks for the advice.

Both of the Screws on my 900's Brake Reservoir needed drilling out.

Try a Hand Impact Driver, first.

If you need to drill it. There's plenty of stock to oversize and retap for a new fastener.
Don't forget to resize the holes on the Lid.
Use a Single Hole Paper Punch too enlarge the Hole in the Gasket.

Do the sight glass while you are doing all this work.

I think I tried that when I did my overhaul, and it didn't seem to help much.

Yes, he does. Chacal stocks them, plus the black RTV you'll want to cement it in place.

Just had the same problem with mine. Drilled a small pilot hole , then took a drill large enough to take off the screwnhead. Pulled the top off and there was enough of the screw sticking out to get a small pair of plyers on, and they slid right out. New screws from the local Yamashop @ 93 cents each, and all is good again..

    :)

Okay so the screws can safely be drilled out is that the picture I am getting. Did not know the sight glass could be replaced, that is good to know as well. What type of adhesive do you reconmend to glue it back into place???

    Thanks for the info.

    W. D.
