Hi. I m new to road bikes and just picked up a '82 Seca XJ750RJ. Last bike I worked on was a Suzuki PE175 many many years ago. Starting the restoration process. The front calipers are siezed so I have ordered the rebuild kits, My question is the kit comes with some packet of red substance that I am not sure what to do with. Everything I read states keep to caliper interior clean. Am I suppose to coat the seals or piston with this liquid/past before inserting the piston into the cylinder? I was just going to coat the seals and outer piston in clean brake fluid. My Haynes manual does not show me anything. Any information would be appreciated.
