front forks?

    i have 82 xj750.
    i have seen on here bout rebuilding them.
    my question is how do i know if i need to rebuild them???
    it doesnt dive alot when hit brake.

    Main reason to rebuild forks is a leaking fork seal. This is at the top of the lower fork leg where the upper chrome tube slides in. If oil is leaking out at this point then a rebuild is needed.

    If it's not leaking, not diving too much, and not bottoming out -- you don't need to be "rebuilding".

    Many of us have done multiple sets of seals, and replaced the springs with progressive wound ones, but that's about all there is to "rebuilding" them.
