Has anyone relocated their front turn signals on a Maxim-X? I think the front forks on a Maxim XJ700 are identical for purposes of this question. I'm looking for a kit that will fit the forks. I think the Memphis Shades MEM9992 would do but not certain.

Where do you want to mount them?

I want to move them from their current (original) position to just above the triple-tree. Moving them would allow for some additional freedom in positioning my windshield.

Mmmm. That's interesting. You could bend sheet metal and make risers but still use the original mounting posts.

Aside from that, I have one more idea. I was walking around my bike and saw that the location where the horns are mounted would be an ideal location to put the turn signals. You could even use the existing bracket, simply bend it 90 degrees and bore out the hole to mount the turn signal into. This'll give you plenty of space to play with the windshield.

Do you not have your original horns, or have you moved them from the original location?

I'm tearing my bike apart and removed the horns from their brackets.

I think it's easier to relocate the horns as they don't need to be seen, only heard.

I had an idea for my bike that may help you. The horns on my XJ700N are attached to a central bracket via another, smaller shiny metal bracket. I'm bending the shiny metal bracket to hold my turn signals and then drilling mounting holes in the central, black bracket to mount the horns underneath the gas tank.

I'm dreaming of an air horn, so we'll see how this pans out.

By the central black bracket...you mean the butterfly bracket that houses the ignition coils?

On and examine the horn brackets carefully. I don't know how long you've had your X but the original horn brackets develop metal fatigue cracks as some key pressure points (see www.maxim-x.com for some good pictures) and will break (one of mine did). I had it welded back together.

Okay the Memphis Shades part MEM9992 will work on the Maxim-X forks. Now I just need to see if the current wires will "stretch" to the new mounting point. Or, figure out what I'll need to do the extend the wire.

Just a final closeout...the wires were just barely long enough to relocate the turn signals to just above the triple-tree. Looks good and now my windshield is positioned in a much better place along the forks.
