OK... I got a great deal with the bike I picked up as I believe it was going to be a project bike. That aside I would like to swap out the 550 maxim tank I have on the bike now with the 750 SECA one I got with the bike. I know there is going to be a lot of work with this but I am willing to put in the wrench time to get the bike I want. My problem is there is no fuel float for that tank and I am not having any luck locating one. There is this one for a SECA 550 though and I was wondering if it would fit or if I am just going to have to keep looking. I am also going to need a fuel gauge with this as well. Any suggestions on where I can get an after market fuel gauge would also be appreciated. I have seen the the stock ones from Yamaha from time to time and am not real pleased with the way they look so any other options or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would even be willing to go that rout as I am doing that now with the current tank. If I can't find the parts I need would just welding a patch over the hole for the float be a good idea?

making a aluminum plate would be a safer idea, someday you might find a
    float for it

If you aren't experienced in the process of welding a gas tank, I recomend NOT welding it
There is a big explosion risk welding on fuel tanks.

The plate and a homeade gasket are your best bet.

    Good Luck
