Okay, tired of searching for homemade solution thread. I thought there was a thread where someone created a gravity feed solution. I'm in need of a technique to bypass the petcock. Does anyone recall this thread and its location?

The petcock just needs to be set to prime to bypass the vacuum function. You can prop the fuel tank up, or set it on a suitable support and use a longer fuel line. Some of us use a fuel tank borrowed from a lawn tractor as a remote fuel can.

No, it was more of a contraption, like a plastic bottle or jug that held fuel and drained directly into the carb

You mean like a fuel can that had a barb fitting added to it, or a gear oil bottle that has the bottom cut out has the fuel hose stuffed onto the business end and is hung by wire, or maybe a used fuel tank from a garden tractor? All you need is fuel line, a container, and a way to hook the two together.

Ignore the links that recommend using pop bottles. They just are not suitable, or safe for transferring gasoline.

They are plentiful, cheap, usually come with a petcock, and were meant to feed gas into carbs. The same reasons that Hogfiddles recommends snow machine gas tanks. The most that I ever paid for a used 1 gallon tank was $10, and that was a near pristine one that was for a restoration project.

I assumed something much larger ..... I'll keep this solution in mind for future projects.

I didn't even pay for it .... Just pulled one off a junk machine. The tank hangs on a manhasset music stand base so I can adjust the height if I wish.....

Here's BluesBass hooking up the tank to a bike for syncing at last June's CNYCC.

Ahhhh. Now I get what you mean by a music stand. I had read that several times, and was visualizing something waaaay less stable. In my mind the tank was resting on the part where you'd put sheet music. Got it now.

If you're REALLY good, you can get your whole ride in without a tank
