so i finally got my carbs cleaned and back on the bike. I also checked my valves, they're all good. I rigged my self a little aux fuel rig to try and start and sync my bike tomorrow. It was my first time so i know they'll have to come off a couple times.
Whats the best way to keep it clean as far as dealing with getting the fuel in and out?
Whats the best way to dispose of the little amount of fuel left in the carbs after draining them? Im guessing letting cardboard soak it up and throwing it out isn't it....

the bike is an 86 xj700

springs here and need to get this guy on the road. 8O

Use a length of clear fuel line to drain the float bowls into your gas can, then dump the gas back into the fuel tank.

I use to put the "bad" gas in a jerrycan for lawnmower use.

Seriously. The "recycled" gasoline is for the lawn mower or to light fires with; maybe degrease some parts OUT IN THE OPEN AND NOT WHILE SMOKING.

Let the kids take it out in the alley and draw lines with it which they then light on fire (hey, I was a kid once too.)

But don't put it back in the bike.

Hmm.... I don't recall ever putting bad gas in my tank, but I guess it could happen. If the fuel that is coming out of the float bowls is unfit for the engine, then the carbs need to be pulled and cleaned again, along with the fuel tank.
