    Hello all,

Well today I took my new to me maxim for its first highway trip around 110 miles one way. 31.5 miles in the speedo quit when I reached my destination I found the cable broke inside the casing(sweet that is an easy fix). I set out thinking I could make the trip in one tank. I was wrong. Well at least I didn't want to push it at what I figured out from highway mile markers and distance I live from the highway the low fuel light came on at 93miles started to sputter around 95 miles flipped to the RES and got to a fuel station. The bike starts and runs very well in my book if you are not careful getting into it 1st to 2nd it will pull the front wheel up no problem. Doesn't smoke a bit. So is that about right for these 85 maxim X 700 20valve liquid cooled motors or should I be getting a little more range? Oh yeah it tacs about 6k doing 73-75.

    Thx for any input.

    That sounds about right.

X#1 will take me about 100 miles before the light comes one...but #2 is a bit more of a gas hog.

Pretty much plan on stopping before you get 110 miles (or you might be pushing)
The throttle twisting really goes through the gas (but that's the fun part)

cool This bike is so smooth that is not hard to want to throttle now and then. it's hard to believe a 23yr old bike rides and handles as nice as this one does. It must have been built right.
