This is a cross post, and so the text will be a bit weird

    I'm wiring up an aux-fuse block on a GS500.

I have a relay setup, taking power directly from the battery. The switch is by default open.

What I am looking for is an ignition switched power source. I only need a few milli-volts to close the switch on the relay (which will provide power directly from the battery to the aux fuse block).

On the CBR I tapped the license plate light. This GS uses the day time running lights of brake housing to light the plate. so I could tap that. That'd work, but I have avoided doing that... if I have to have a light fail I don't mind it being the license plate light, but I don't want to loose the brake light!

Does the GS 500 have an auxiliary power lead? On some bikes there is a lead near the front which would be the day time running lights/park lights when required (i.e. Euro).

Found one - the horn is always hot, and since I only needed a few milli-volts it was perfect. (Hot when the ignition is on, not hot when the bike is key'ed off... which is exactly what I wanted to trip my relay)

I've got a photo series of tapping that for switched power, making my relay, and running the cables for a switched 10amp 12volt circuit... perfect for any/all auxiliary devices you want to run.

    12v 30amp relay was ~$12

3 colours of wire, ~$20 with miles of spare left (I had actually brought it for a different project

    3 - two pin SAE trailer style plugs @ $4 a pop

All told doing this, and the other wiring probably took 2 hours real work, and probably 4 thinking it through.

Are you worth more when you are thinking or when you are working? Good job, looks very thorough.
