gas cap help please?

    does the xj require a vacuum cap or vented cap for an aftermarket tank? if so can you explain the function of the "vacuum"?

    you need a vented cap. The vent allows air to suck into the tank as the fuel leaves the tank. Otherwise, you'd end up with a vacuum inside the tank that will eventually get strong enough to overcome the diaphragm in the fuel valve. That will cause the fuel to stop flowing..........of course, you know that will cause the bike to stop running..
