When I bought my bike. The battery was dead. I jumped it n got it running. At that time my gauge cluster worked(LCD, fuel, batt. warning, etc..). On my way home the bike stalled at a light with the clutch held! I couldn't start it back up. So I went to wal-mart(called a friend) n bought a battery. The new battery didn't come with a battery sensor. N my battery sensor wouldn't fit in the 3rd hole! I got the bike started again. But I didn't have anything working on the gauges besides the illuminating(spelling?) light. My blinkers don't work, brake light doesn't get brighter when used, no LCD, or battery warning, etc..

Is all that caused by me not having the battery sensor hooked up? If not, then any ideas?

I've been reading up on this matter for a few hours now. But nothing pin-pointing my problem. But I have read some really good info on the matter!

    Thanx

I'm thinking its dew to the fact I didn't charge the battery when I bought it. I just installed it n went! I did charge it for like 20 mins while I was at a buddies house with my bike the next day... But I'm sure that wasn't enough time for a "full" charge...

    Any other idea's?

    Thanx

Not having the battery sensor in the battery will only cause the "idiot" warning light to flash at you and the "bat" lcd display will be shown.

Not charging a battery before using it will only shorten it's life span from what I understand. It has nothing to do with your current problems.

I would start by looking at your fuses for a problem. If you still have the original glass fuses do yourself a favor and get them swapped out for the new style blade fuses.

Did you get the battery connected correctly? Are your battery cables in good condition/not corroded? Do you have a good clean ground to the bike frame/engine?

The fuses are all good. I plan on ordering the new fuse box soon. Yes the battery is connected correctly n tight. Cables are all good. N ground is good.

I attached a wire from the battery sensor wire 2 each fuse(one at a time). Just 2 see if it would help out or not. N I heard an "eletrical click" sound n then all my gauge cluster things started 2 work!!! including my blinkers n all... But my gauge cluster was kinda acting alil' funny at times! They were flashing on n off n scrolling down...

I turned my bike off n started it back up again. 2 see if everything still worked. N I had nothing again...

Have you checked your connections inside of the headlight housing?
Sometimes they are known to rattle loose, or begin a slight corrosion on the connectors.

An "electrical click" sounds like a fuse busting, but listening over the internet can be deceiving. :D
There IS a fuse inside of the headlight housing too, just for the gauges I assume.

No I haven't checked that connection yet. I'll check that out today. The "electrical click" I heard wasn't a fuse blowing. More the sound of when a cars a/c turns on. Like there was more electrical strain occurring. If that helps 2 explain it!?!

I went for a 30-40 min ride. N within 5 mins my gauge cluster started working!!! Then 10 mins later it stopped working for a min. or 2. Then came back on. When I got home after turning my bike off. I started it again just 2 see if they were all working still. N they were!!! I don't understand this problem... lol!!!

Loose wiring connections somewhere along that circuit!
