    Hi all,
Had problems recently with contaminated oil...and starter clutch issues. So changed to the correct oil and flushed a number of times.
Starter clutch is behaving better now but still slips once in a while..Now I notice that shifting from 2nd into third is a bit clunky.. Any ideas.?
    Thanks,
    Morg.

Not sure if it matters but have you examined the grooves on your clutch boss? The splines (grooves) may have a large enough indentation that its causing the friction & steel plates in your clutch assembly to clunk more prevalent ... just a thought I may not be correct... I got myself a different clutch boss for the 550 & smoothed out each groove where the plates ride. Even went to the extent of polishing too which may have been overkill but did notice a difference afterwords. This clunky issue only came up after you changed the oil several time?

    Hi all,
Someone put synthetic in her on a service which caused all sort of starter clutch problems.
So I have changed the oil three times now and flusher her out too. She got some fuel in the crank due to a sticky float.
All this time I am using 20w40 motorbike specific mineral oil.i notice if I go thru the revs a bit more before changing gear the clunk doesn't seem to happen. maybe I'm just changing gear too soon.?
