gear slipping and dogs....... pics!!

    ok so i have read a bunch about this being a common thing... my bike pops out of second. from all i have read it is the dogs getting worn down and i have to weld them and re cut. i pulled apart the block and took it all out and only one of the female parts "looks" to be worn but im no mechanic so....

    You'll need to look at the condition of the the shift forks also, see if they show significant wear and/or bending.

    The gear in the first picture shows some significant wear, you need to look at the protruding "tabs" or notches on it's mating gear and see what they look like, too.

    That clutch basket is a goner! Time for a replacement!!

    While you're that far into it, I would suggest replacing the primary chain plastic GUIDE which is "below" the main chain, bolted to the underside of the top crankcase half) as those are a problem-child area of the engine.

    That basket is definitely done for. I have an extra one if you would like to purchase it, my inner basket is broke and im waiting for a replacement clutch assembly.

    I'm also starting my gear dog journey. So far so good.
