    Okay
I get on me bike the other day and I have shorts on because it's like hot as well you get it.
Anyway I start the bike and my legs are just touching the foot pegs. I could feel a mild shock at my legs. I do feel it when wearing shorts at the pegs and also on the side covers. I have put several miles on it that way it seems to be okay otherwise. Is this just the grounded frame grounding on me or something that needs to be fixed?

The 12volt won't be giving you a shock, you must be getting something from the HT leads.

HT? It is a weak shock like a tickle slight burning sensation when I ground the frame with my legs. I think it's just 12 volts.

I don't think it would be 12V. Too much resistance for current to flow. Touch the + and - terminals of your battery with one hand. Feel that? No, because there's just too much resistence there.

You might feel something if the frame and + terminal were right next to each other, and you closed the gaps with wet skin. But if you feel it on different parts of the frame, it's probably the HT leads.

So what you are saying is that he possibly has a plug wire, or coil that has cracked, and is shorting to the frame.

At night when it is dark. Start the engine with the tank removed. Look at the area of the coils. You should see it sparking from the plug wires, or coil to the frame.

Gotta love the tickle of the HT!!

High Tension, AKA high voltage. The coils get a low voltage signal from the TCI, and transform it into a high voltage one.

I've been bit by 12v side post car batteries if my arm is sweaty enough and I reach between positive and a grounded part...yes, 12v can bite you. It's the amps, not the voltage. I dunno about a MC battery though.

Seems if you had high voltage leaking enough to feel it, you'd also have a profound misfire.

Is this just when cranking the starter, or while running? How long does it last? Intriguing.

SPARK PLUG WIRES. High Tension = coil output.

You've got a plug wire touching somewhere it ought not, or one that's worn through its outer sheath.

I've got a great story about metallic-thread stripes in a pair of tuxedo pants and an old BSA but it's way too much typing. Suffice to say a similar albeit more spectacular situation, especially at night.

Engine ground could be insufficient, so the current is grounding through you.

I'd do the night test and report back. (Test while NOT touching the bike)
