Drove the XJ to my local guy,He pulled out his 90 degree screwdriver ,played around about 5 minutes and said try that.I rode it home and it didn't miss a lick.Celebrated by inviting the Wife for a ride around the neighborhood, then down to the river. She pout's when I saddle up without her! Now to engineer a sissy bar to put my back pack on.I've about got that figured out,any ideas on saddlebag supports? And which low budget windshields fit the XJ700?I like the smaller ones, just enough to deflect wind, and still be able to see over it. Sounds great - so he tuned it by ear? I have heard some folks can so that.

I saw a post on here that a guy used 6 ft of Brake wire and covered it with a clear coating and bent it to fit next to the passenger seat, down to the exhaust, then back a bit, then hooking over the taillights. Looks like it worked like a charm. If I find the post I'll throw it up here

It's not hard, some of us old guys can do it easily. After years of driving cars with points and carbs you kind of develop a talant to do it. Did not have any fancy tools back then just a few screwdrivers and wrenches.
