    Hey there fellas and gurus.
I have searched for an answer regarding the following and I could not find anything that closed the deal.

I am removing the ugly computer box speedometer on my 82 XJ750RJ seca

Got all the wiring done except the headlight and oil light. I used the schematic wiring diagram and could not find where I would hook up the following after removing the "fish finder?"

    Green/Red G/R (low beam) = where to?
    Yellow/Green Y/G (high beam) = where to?
Black (ground) This one I know where to hook up :D

I want to be able to use my stock lo/hi beam switch.

After removing the big box I'm afraid the colors I mentioned above are nowhere in the harness after the "finder" and they are not even on the diagram.

Reading from SIR-HEDGHOG"S post on Apr 10. he said "the low beam colours before the head into the "fish finder" are white/red, blue and ground"

So I'm assuming I can hook up my green/red wire to the white/red, right?

but then it get's confusing when he explains how to hook up the high beam.
    This is what he said
"to get my high beams I spliced the green and yellow wires from the dimmer switch (high/low beam switch) to the low beam wires" that doesn't make sense to me. If I did that then the high beams will be constatnly on, and how does hooking those wires to the low beam turn my high beams on.

Any one know where i can hook the three wires I mentioned above?

As far as the oil light goes,
can I use the black/red (oil switch wire) as ground for the light? does the switch woork by completing (closing the loop) the circuit when the oil is low?
    Thanks in advance.

Are you certain that Sir Hedghog was refering to your model?
I have your schematic in front of me and those colors don't have anything to do with the headlights.
The G/R needs to go to the headlight Green (G) passing out of the Dimmer switch plug (this wire runs into the cluster on the 6 pin connector). This line also goes into the Instrument cluster to the High Beam indicator (no idea why but the Haynes shows it there, might be an error).
The Y/G needs to connect to the Yellow (Y) passing out of the Dimmer switch but the schematic does not show it emerging from the handle bar cluster so you will have to look at it to determine which color wire it is combined with on the cluster connector. Then just follow the color on the other side to the headlight bucket/instrument cluster.
Your oil level sender is a Black/Red wire that is switched to ground in the absence of oil. I wouldn't use it for a ground.

Ok, I figured it out. I think. I mean I got the lights running, but my highbeam gauge light does not come on, when my high beams are on. even though they work and I have the gauge light hooked on the right cables. Hmmm. Am I missing something? I'm hooking up my highbeam to the yellow wire coming out of the six prong connector. and the green out of the blue wire from the 9 prong connector. I will try your sugestion tomorrow Robert, thanks.

oH and what I meant about the oil wire was if I should hook it up on the negative side (ground) off the gauge light to complete the circuit when the oil level is low.

BTW I only have one Turn signal bulb on my gauge. How would I go about hooking it up since i only have a pos. and neg. for that gauge bulb. I first tried hooking both dark green (right) and dark brown(left) on the positive and the black on the negative but when I set my left turn signal both left and right come on. Like hazard lights. So i hooked the right side only and then the left marker on the oil gauge light. "I know what it means when the oil light flashes of course. But I would like to get the single blinker gauge light to work without disrupting the actual turn signals.

    Thanks Robert.

Turns out I had my low beam hooked to the blue wire out of the 9 pin connector. While the high beam out of the yellow from the 6 pin connector.
The yellow wire was correct. but I was supposed to hook up the low beam to the green wire out of the 6 pin connector just below the yellow wire.

It was easier than I thought. My high beam light on my new gauge works great now.

I am using the oil (red LED) light as my left turn indicator and the trun indicator light ( I only have one) for my right. I can't figure out how to make one indicator light work with both signals. Any clues anyone?
