I bought the 81 in may.Signed by the original owner. But, 3 guys bought it since then and none of them got it into their names.Which causes me to get a bonded title.28 miles from my house takes 90 minutes.dallas traffic. Then the dmv office, not your usual office. It handles making duplicate titles, certified copies, bonds, lots of things that can only be done there.People 350 miles away have to come there.Fortunately much can be done online and email. The first bond from them costs $15.00.Not bad.Its based on the value of a 25 or more year old motorcycle. The state sets the value at $4,000.which equals $15.00.You can protest, get a different appraisal, but its still going to cost 15 bucks. Then you go 40 feet down the hall to the bond office. Even though i have a bill of sale and the original title its $100. She got several calls while i waited.100 bucks was her answer to all the calls.I guess all old bikes are $100. Then I have to drive back to my town denton tx to the dmv.I have the bonded title, which is mostly blank but shows I paid for it.Then there is the title application form. I have to fill it out right there. It can be done online but I had one done already I printed from home. Then the final bill kinda.$101.75. Thats just to get the title coming to me in about 3 weeks. Once I get the bike insured and inspected I go back to the dmv, get the current registration sticker for the license plate and i am street legal. What a pain. The former owner had removed the signal lights. I think I can get it inspected without them.I will definitely call ahead on that issue. So if ya'll buy a nontitled bike in texas this is what you will have to do.Some bonds are higher. On a 2001 yamaha venture the bond was $150.
