Grab bar

    Will the grab bar from a 82 xj 750 maxim, fit on my 82 xj650j maxim? They look similar, I like the little taller bar.

    yea mine doesnt have them

    so i wanna know if they are

    interchangeable in all xj's?

    also i wanna know hoe its screwed

    is it under or over the shock?

    Sorry didn't mean to ignore you.
    Yes the bar that wraps around the seat.
    Its mounted on a stud, take the crown nut off and theres a funny shaped washer under it. Then you will see the groove to lift it off of the stud, the shock will stay in place. Before this you should remove the other 4 bolts that mount it.

    As for interchangability I'm not sure that was my question.

    i mean those little holders hehind the shock!

    mine doesnt have them and its a pain to use the centerstand.

    Are you talking about side grips just under the seat? Generally speaking most 'grab bars' are the tall seatbacks that go on the back of your bike and your 'passenger/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend' holds onto. That's a grab bar... ;)

    And yes, most are interchangeable. If you have the XJ CD, all you need to do is to look up the part#. :)
