    Just wanted to say hello.

I recently bought a 1982 XJ750 Maxim and once I get new tires and an oil change (hopefully this coming week), it'll be in perfect running order.

The only two things I'd like to add are a windshield and baggage of some kind. Figuring out what will fit on this bike is becoming a challenge.

I really love my Maxim, but it is heavy!! It's a PITA to back up...guess I just need to hit the gym :)

depending on your mufflers and stuff, i know some maxims will do this, but you may burn a hole in your saddle bag, im going to jsut use the front "fanny bag" and one of those small backpacks. seems like i can fit everythin i need in those, idk about my school books tho :D

Yeah, lugging my books around is my primary concern, carrying a change of clothes would be nice too. I'll probably just wear a backpack or strap it to the passenger backrest for the time being.

    Nice to meet you, Schooter!

You need a luggage rack, but they are very hard to come by. Bike Bandit has some throw over saddle bags (goes over the rear fender under the seat) Schooter is right about being watchfull to make sure your bags will not rub on the exhaust. The little fanny bag to go on the front fork is a nice addition too.
Bike Bandit also has windsheilds I got mine there for my 1100. Hope to hear from you soon. Good Luck

Check-out the "SlipStreamer Hellfire SS-24V" Windshield.

I have their Hellfire SS-24V on my 750 Maxim and I absolutely love it.
After getting used to it being there ... It seems to disappear!

You will have no wind on you and it makes tooling-around or taking real long rides really comfortable.

    Scroll down to the SS-24V

Nice windshield. May go with the Spitfire due to the square headlights. Would these bolt onto the square bars without any mods? I took the interstate yesterday and don't want to do that again without a windshield...yikes! lol

    SlipStreamer sells square bar adapters.

The Hell Fire rides nicely on my Seca with a square headlight. It is the perfect size for the bike. It provides just the right wind break without completely destroying the lines of Seca. I think you may find the SpitFire just a bit larger than it looks in the pics. A buddy of mine has one on his Intruder and is a good deal larger than the Hell Fire.
HERE is a pic of it installed.

    Look at tailbags.
    They come in many sizes.
Zip off the bike to take with you.
Most have backpack straps on the back so carrying it full isn't so bad.
