HAILS, I wanted to swing by this section of the forum and introduce myself. My name is Sean Weaver and I am originally from upstate New York now I am going to school in Florida. I just scored a 82 maxim xj750 off a friends brother and I am excited to get started on fixin her up and bobbing her out. I am fairly new to working on bikes so I'm going to spend alot of time on this site. My last bike was a bobbed 84 Suzuki gs 450 that my best friend and I pulled from a barn where it had been sitting for 15 years. It was an electrical nightmare as mice and squirrels had been living in and chewing everything inside and out. We even found a hidden stash of dog food in the air box. He went school at MMI and knew his shit so I was pretty much the "Gopher" on the project. Regardless, I couldnt have been more proud of the bike and the little bit of knowledge that stuck is priceless. Ever since Ive been dreaming about working on another bike and doing more of the hands on work to really gain the first hand experience. Most will be through trial and error I'm sure, but I still couldn't be more excited to get started. Thanks in advanced for your shared knowledge, and I look forward to bullshitting and brainstorming with you fellow XJ patriots.

Welcome to the wonderful site. I scooped a MAXIM X 750 cc 1985 just over a mnth ago and PO parked it for 2 yrs for same reason..NO start issue. I was lucky the wires were intact, only the driver seat is bit eaten up by squirrel. I got it startd with the help from this site and its engine is painted so is the 4 in to 1 exhaust. All the very best on yur project.

Thanks bro. Ya once or twice a week when I'm home I take my .17hmr into the woods and go on a red squirrel rampage.. Those little s***s get into everything. Plus they bark at you non-stop when your in your tree stand waiting for ol' mossy horns to come through. Your bikes look great. Stay in touch.
