I have striped my 82 maxim xj750 down to the frame. Want to get it to powder coating. Still need to take the handlebars off. Anyone able to help me with this? Last thing to remove

You've stripped everything else off the bike, but you're stuck with the bars, I find that passing strange, what is the problem ?

In your other thread in XJ Chat, you said you were having trouble getting the forks off. Is this still the case? There are 6 pinch bolts holding the forks in place, 4 hex bolts holding the bars to the triple tree, and then just one bolt holding thing the triple trees on. Then just one nut to take the clamps off. Done.

I found a metal ring on them that was stopping them from sliding through. Once I found that and removed they slid right through. Thanks for checking. I really appreciate all the inputs, this site has been a lot of help for my project. This is my first rebuild on a bike, done several cars though. Think I'll stick with bike.
