    Simple one here, well mostly.

I had these old school risers from a lowrider bicycle my father and I built, probably 10 years ago. They came on some old ape hangers off of a trike.

I love the look and feel of the low rise bars that I have on there. Occasionally, on the long rides I so love to take, my back would begin to suffer from leaning forward towards the shorter bars. I mulled it over for a while and decided to give them a try.

I scored a set of road rash bearing bars at the scrap yard and cut them to span the bar mounts. I did have to shave a small bit off of the bottoms, the portion that sits closest to the top triple. Really it was more about molding them to fit the goofy curves down there. That was it.

Threw them on, took some pics, went for a ride!

I only did 30 miles but I loved them. I didn't think to measure the rise. Might be 5-6 inches. Anyway, they come up and, following the lines of the forks, back enough to alleviate the forward lean.

Yea, it worked out pretty well I think.

Looking at a ruler, they could be 4". My bike is down the street so I can't get an accurate reading.

Like I said, I just followed the lines of the fork tubes and set them there. They look clean at that angle and follow the lines. One could easily make them work at different angles.

I thought they might alter the handling. After my short ride, they did not. I love the euro type bars for their high response handing and nothing changed in that sense!

Raising the bar a little also gave the bike more of a swept look, higher in front and lower in the back.

I think I've seen the same risers on ebay for $20 or so...

I checked online and only found a few similar risers. The difference being that both ends, of the risers online, have a loose bar mount. The old pair that I have do not.

I had gotten particularly bored this evening so I played around on "paint". Now, I understand that what I did was no special feat and probably won't matter much. I just got bored...

The part that I highlighted with red is where I had to shave a little off. Yes, sounds kind of sketchy but still very much solid and safe.

I've seen those styles on ebay ($20 and up) 4" to 8". Had figured you'd have to shave some off the bottom some. Thought of using them with a short set of z-bars. With the arm reach I've got (think 6' spider monkey), it would be pretty much for looks...
