last safety issue to take care of on my seca is the fact that the bars impact the tank when steered to the max either way. there seems to be a little nub of steel that has broken off of the steering tree behind the aux headlight. welding a new piece on is going to be a bit of a bitch because of the location and because i also will have to fabricate the piece and i don't really know exactly what it looks like. is there another fix for this issue?

Just a thought...could you possibly drill and tap a machine screw where the piece has broken off and then put a bolt and lock-nut on to what ever the amount required to stop the bars hitting?
    Good luck.

Don't know if this will work on your bike, but a guy did this to his bike...

Made a steering stop and bolted it to a handy spot on the frame. Stops the bars in the perfect spot and I still have way more turning travel than I need.
