My 550 is agervatingly hard to start after a cold night (in the low 30s) and in the morning when its like 40 degrees. is this normal or do i have an issue the battery isnt the best but i keep it on the charger all night.

It will fire a couple times but will not start. Only after firing for like 3 mins it will start. very rarely do i have to use instastart. (i dont use instastart i have high grade gas in a spray bottle).

Do i have an issue? Could it be my battery or is this normal?

Yes it could be the battery.

Also float levels, clogged or obstructed enrichment circuits/wells, or carbs that need a synch.

But even a perfectly tuned 550 will not start on a frosty morning without a nice fresh battery.

I was going to answer pretty much what Fitz did, so +1 on that. Grab yourself a battery tender. I will have cold starts and just hook it up to a car battery I have inside my front door (just for this purpose) and it'll start right up.

My carbs are pretty clean. I have great power through the whole rpm range no flat spots. So it must be my battery. Thats what i thought it was to begin with i just wanted to double check with you guys since yall are more expieranced.

There are times the the bike will fire numerous times but it wont start. As soon as i hook a battery charger to it it starts right up. So yea i guess its my battery
