Are the header pipes for the various models marked in anyway so as to identify a) model of bike and b) which cylinder they are for? I have a small assortment and don't know which pipe goes to which bike, some I need to sell, some I need to install ....

I'm pretty sure they are not marked for model or cylinder.

However, they are different left to right. You can tell by the test bungs on the bottom - they need to point to the outside for pipes to mount correctly.

I just pulled mine apart last week and they are stamped on the lower part of the tube right before it tapers down to go inside the exhaust collector. It's something like "MAXIM XJ750 -1", "MAXIM XJ750-2", etc. I'm not sure if this holds true on other models but it's pretty clear on mine.

Yeah - same thing on the XJ550 Seca. There are -1, -2 etc at the end to designate the appropriate cylinder.

    On the 550s, it's "model prefix - position" ie; 4G0-1, 4G0-2, etc.

    As above; yes, they're marked.

The EGA "bungs" will be pointing almost straight downward when the pipes are in their correct positions.

Thank you gents, I found it!. Dang that is hard to see - I had overlooked that any number of times. Mine don't say Maxim xxx, they say 1FG-x
and 1FG I have found to be the XJ700.

    Thank you, thank you.
