My V&H header has seen some miles and must of the chrome on the bottom half has been sand blasted away. I have been using silver high temp paint but that only lasts so long. Can't afford to replace right now so I thought header tape might be an option. How much do I need I would be pissed if I ran out but don't want a bunch left over either. Also which would look better 1 inch or 2.

Are you using high temp vs. header paint? that could be part of the problem?
Or does header paint flake off also?

Not sure if it was high temp or header. But the main issue is road debris sandblasting the header.

Try the VHT flame proof paint if you don't want to wrap.

I did a 4-1 header with 1 50' foor rool I think it was. I've got another roll to do my 2-1 pair for this go around.

Google how much exhaust wrap do I need. There are lots of calculators out there. You need to know the diameter and length of your pipes.

Glad to help. There are too many variables invovled to just give a simple answer.

One suggestion though, wrap it first with the wrap dry and no ties so you can cut the length you need for that tube. Then wet it like the instructions say and rewrap. You'll be glad you did when you're not pulling 50' of wrap around your first tube hundreds of times. Also, depending on your exhaust setup wrap the inside tubes first down to the merge then the outside tube down and over the merge. It'll look better.
