Hello all. I made the newbie mistake of braking while turning today 8O and am now in need of some parts. It was low speed and the bike took relatively minor damage, but my helmet needs to be replaced so that will be big $$. My only damage is a hip that is sore (time for something other than normal jeans!), but other than that the gear took the scrapes for me.

Anyway, the reason I am posting is that chacal has all of the parts I need except the headlight housing. Everything I read on this forum suggests chacal for parts, so what is the next best supplier? I checked on e-bay and the only one I saw has a dent and is from an 82 Maxim XJ650. Even with the dent, it still looks better than mine does now, but I would prefer a new one if possible. Will the 82 fit my bike?

Glad you are OK. I had a 20 year break in riding and was slowing down in corners until I got the old habits relearned. That is a common and dangerous error.

Best way to determine fit is look at the Yamaha part numbers (bunch of sites to get the number). If they are the same they will fit.

I don't see why an 82 wouldn't work they did not change the headlight between those years to my knowledge. There may be some folks here on the site with one available. Search out folks parting out bikes.

Also Turtlejoint was looking for one last week in this forum and had several offers. Take a look at his thread and contact those folks. Good luck with your search.
