I just bought a 1982 XJ650 Maxim and she needs new tires badly. This is going to be a bobber so i would like some old school tires with as wide a rear tire as possible. The bike is stripped and im currently searching for someone to weld on a hardtail.

Anyway what i really need is the max tire size. Ive been searching the forums and all i find are theories but no one with any hard evidence. I like the tread on this bike. what kind of tires/ size are these?

    thanks in advance.

As long as you don't mind cuttting away a portion of
the driveshaft outer cover you can put a fairly fat tire
    on.
The best way to choose style is to search the net since
the "look" of the tire you want may not come in the size you need.
I've run into that prob just with my stock set up.
I tried to mag the lettering on the pic , but still could
    not I.D. the maker.

Had a set of these on my old honda 550 noghthawk...

I have a feeling these are discontinued..

I like the Shinko 712 tires, good grip and mileage for the price..
