I took my Seca frame to work today and had one the guys blast it for me. The problem is, I totally forgot about the sticker on the neck of the frame which has all the information on it.Year of the bike, make, model, Vin.#, wieght, etc. and now the sticker is gone. Is this something that needs to be on the bike to be able to get the bike inspected? Is it something that needs to be on the bike if I were to ever sell it? Is it possible to get a replacement? Am I in deep doodoo?

The VIN is also stamped into the headpiece of the frame, where the steering stem passes through it. Because a sticker can easily be changed, and a stamping can't without it being obvious, in most states, law enforcement officers and DMV officials go by the VIN stamping, not the sticker.

Your not likely to need the Sticker but you should be able to read the Stamped-in VIN on the Steering Column.

Your Registration is all YOU need for the time being. But, if you need to PROVE the Bile is yours after and impound or accident ... you'll need to be able to have authorities read the Stamping on the Headset.

If you are painting or powder coating the frame. Mask-off the numbers with a piece of Vinyl electrical Tape and leave the tape on the bike. The color of the Paint will cover the smooth Vinyl tape and the Powder coating won't adhere to the frame.

You can leave the tape on there forever or until such time that those numbers NEED to be viewed.

The Vinyl tape will separate from the paint leaving a perfectly straight edge. Regular masking tape will pull surrounding paint off the frame.
