Bought this seat on ebay (said it was for an xj650 seca). Got it in the mail and it doesn't fit and is not close to my stock seat. Is it from a maxim? Any help is appreciated!

Pretty hard to identify seats (or any other part) from a picture.

I don't think any of the XJs had that rise at the front.

There should be a part number molded into the seat pan, it might be some help.

Markie, the front is too high for the GPZ & the seat strap on the GPZ is further forward.

Actually, 650 turbo seca, 750 seca, and 900 seca all have a "rise" in the front. My '82 750 seca looks "kinda" like that. It also has some extra hardware on it. But it might be a 750 seca seat. I'll take a look to compare with I get home

EDIT: The pan actually looks alot like my 750 seca, but it doesn't have the hinges or latches, or even holes for them. I'm not sure if all the 750 seca seats had this

I don't know what seat it is but it's definately not an 81-83 750 seca, there's no recess in it to fit over th 'fender' ..th code on mine is 5G2-24730-00.

are you positive it is from a yamaha? I can't see any hinge mounts or latch hardware. Ive got an 81 750seca and it looks suspiousosly like a 650 nighthawk my buddy had...my seca had more padding in front and had less of a scallop than the one you have. it is tuck and roll and the passenger section was too small to be of much use beyond across town.
I know the 900 had a larger tank so the seat would most probably have been shorter or with a steeper rise n front too.

The only numbers I can find on the bottom are 06A00. I contacted the seller and they said that they bought out a warehouse and it was labeled for xj650 seca so who knows...

There's not hinges or seat lock hooks.

It's too bad, it's in great shape.

I believe you do. A Google image search of the '85 Suzuki GS700ES appears to confirm it. Good spotting.

wrxg33k Have you considered having your stock seat re-done? It costs less than you might think. I've had two seats done by Sargent's Cycle in Florida so far, one a "stock re-cover" and one a recontour and "up-foam" job; both came out fantastic and it wasn't expensive at all.

Yes, I've considered having the seat recovered.

I just got the entire seat for $35 shipped off ebay so my plan was to make the original a 1UP cafe seat and still have a 2UP for when the wife wants to ride.

I guess I'll just stick with recovering the stock seat for now. Thanks for the help!
