I recently got a gsxr.the po was using either to start it.I brought it home and found the #1 plug wire kinda of beat up,so i trimmed it expsoing some nice looking wire then reinserted it back into the the cap you put over the spark plug and she started with no trouble for about a month.sunday i go for a ride and she runs great.yesterday i take it out to go to work and and it starts but doesn't stay running. It doesn't sound like it is either getting fuel or isn't getting spark to all four plugs.I sprayed some starter fluid thru the air intake carb boots,it will start for a few seconds then bog out and die.can't figure it out.any help would be great. Thanks john

9 times outta 10 it's in the carbs. Have you taken them off and cleaned them? Is there a fuel filter between the petcock and carbs?

How old is the fuel in the tank? Could just be a case of water in the gas...

its got carbs.I beleive the reason for the bike not starting is the petcock is missing the metal bit that enables me to set it to a prime position.i shot some starter fluid into the carbs and it stats and runs again.I reckon I need to get a new petcock. Thanks for the interest.
