    Hey folks!

After giving up on the XJ550 last year, partly due to frustration, partly due to a little fear of screwing something up, I'm full-on tackling things this year.

I've been following Schmuck's tutorial on teardown and cleaning the carbs, and it's a godsend! Thank you Schmuck!
I've hit a little snag, though.. It's dumb, I'm sure, but how do I get the float valve seats out without scoring them? They don't seem to want to come out easily, but they also don't look like they're threaded.

(BTW, I think I figured out the problem - #1 float and needle valve seized in the down position)

Any help you guys can give will get this newb back on track, and on my merry way!

    Thanks!

If the Float Valve Seat are badly stuck in the body, ...

    1) Place the SHANK of the Drill sized that of the Seats Bore into the Seat to prevent the Seat from being squeezed "Out-of-round".

TAKE EVERY PRECAUTION TO PREVENT DAMAGING A FLOAT PILLAR.

With the Drills Shank preventing the Seat from being deformed; grab the Seat with Needle-nosed Vice Grips.

    Lube with WD-40
Use the Lock-on's to dislodge the stuck seat.

The Float Pillar's cannot be moved.
They are in jeopardy when removing stuck Valve Seats.
