    Newbie here, found this place while looking for info on my latest project. My Dad left an 81 750 at my place years ago. He bought it off a cousin who needed money at the time. Dad only rode it one summer then it got winterized and parked at my place. I've decided to get it roadworthy again, which is proving to be a big task. Carbs are a mess, master cylinder is ruined. Other than that I think it will be a good bike soon. It only has 5100 original miles on it! I'm currently looking for a used master cylinder; does anyone know of a good source for used parts for these?

    What bike do you have? Or was the Seca the only 81 750?

    If so, there should be plethora of members on this site offering their paper weights for the cost of shipping (I kept my behind-the-headlight master cylinder, but bar mounted is a popular swap).

    What is ruined about it? You can buy a kit for $70 from chacal...and that includes the piston, springs, and seals. These bikes can be a big mess...and can cost well more than they are worth (KBB) in parts. But I'm having a blast on mine :D . Welcome to the site! You'll find all the info you need here.

    Thanks. It's a Maxim 750. I figured out how to get to the sig input. The neck sticker says the date of manufacture was 1/82 but its titled as a 1981. Maybe it should be an 82?

    The master cylinder was full of dried out chunky crud. I got it apart, so I think a rebuild may work, but I'm not sure about the inside sealing surface for the piston. It feels OK, but I'm not real confident in it. The lines and calipers have decent looking fluid in them, so hopefully a flush will do the trick there.

    Hopefully it won't cost a lot to get it up to snuff. The wife isn't crazy about this idea in the first place. LOL.

    I have an old master cylinder from my 650 maxim. I don't know if it is interchangeable with the 750 or not. If it is, and you find that you need one I am sure we could work something out. In fact, I am planning a road trip to western Montana with my church friends in late June. If you want it, perhaps we could arrange a meeting. Good luck with your project, and do try to be mindful of your dear wife's feelings! :D

    Hi and welcome! I grew up in Dillon, MT so howdy neighbor. I'm refurbishing an 81 Seca 750, and my front brakes are in pieces all over my workbench. Parts on the way from Chacal.
    Take a look at your calipers. If the pistons are stuck/frozen you can use a grease gun to push 'em out. Back the bleeder screw out a bit, put one of the caliper attachment bolts in the banjo bolt hole and pump away. You have to clean the grease out REALLY well afterwards, but this if the best/safest way to get that piston out.
    When you get to the carbs do a search for "whole nine yards" on here.
