Got the XJ CD. Took out the pilot screws to inspect them. Since the factory manual sez don't remove these, as they cause poor performance, what is the best way to reset them? Any rules of them, such as gently screw in all the way and then back out some amount? I don't have a carb sync tool.
    Thanks!

About 2 turns out from GENTLE bottoming on the coarse threaded screws, about 2-1/2 turns out on the ultra-fine threaded screws.

And now that you've removed them, and will be setting them all "equal", you're gonna need that synch tool..............and, you're going to need to check and adjust your valve clearances, too.

Otherwise, you're bike will run like dung.
