my friend is interested in picking up a 75 honda cb350 he found for sale for 700 dollars. The think is in extremely good condition. I really dont think it will move with him on it though.. he is 6'6 and about 270. Does this seem like something he should persue?

It's a great starter bike despite what anyone says. I'm 6'5" and started on a CB160 sport. (Which was considered a "full size" bike back in its day.) Granted, I wasn't over 200lb back at age 16-17 but I WAS this tall. No, he won't be taking any transcontinental trips but if he has never ridden before, it would be a fine way to begin. And if it's in tip-top shape, he can certainly make a profit. Clean CB350's can go for upwards of 2 grand...

Do it. But lose the hangers and backrest. You can lose a lot of unnecessary stuff and make it into something really quick and cool. On a side note, is Marlin's and the Squeeze-In still in Sunbury? Was talking recently about those places with some Central PA transplants in Philly.

I think the plan on this is to make it into a old school hard tail chop.

Yeah those places are pretty much staples in sunbury.

I was a fat kid growing up and loved those places when I was in the area. Stepdad has family from Shamokin. Anyway, CBs make cool chops. Only downside is that once its done, no matter how cool it is, its still only going to be a 350. Not trying to discourage you, I say go for it cause it would be cool. But for someone of your friends stature, might get old fast. Just my .02. Theres a 72 CB350 been sitting in my garage for a long time just dont know what to do with it.

well, my thought is since all he will really be able to do is put around on it... might as well do it in style. Plus those old twin motors just look so fuggin cool. If you ever comeback to the area let me know and hopefully we will have it done by then

My first bike was a 73 CB350. Sadly, I went too far into working on it than was necessary and ended up selling it as a basket case. :(

I would hate to take a bike that is that nice and chop it. there are plenty of other bikes that would work out and you would ruin the value of it I see most chopper bobbers are 650 and up. you can get them really cheap is you shop around and you are going to cut it up anyway. I think a 650 is a googd starter bike if you are on the freeway or in traffic much. That is a beautiful bike though and I would grab it. My friend had a 350 and brother had a 400 and they are great bikes.

I ran a 71 CB350 for my first bike at 165lbs, 73 inches. It was small. I'd say you should consider a 550 for your buddy. A 350 is going to be under-powered for someone his size. If it is his first bike I could see it but I suspect it isn't. It is in nice shape, if local prices warrant it, pick it up and sell it in the spring for a profit!

Neat little bikes. My buddy had an old CB with the chrome tank. Wild sissy bar though!
