I think the subject line says it all. My horn blows "softly" when I start my bike cold.

What gives? Is there some common electrical connection between the starter/ignition and the horn?

Are you sure it's the horn? The starter clutch on mine releases a little slowly right after it starts the motor, and the noise it makes does sound like a "soft" horn. Usually mine does this when the motor is cold, but not when it is warm.

im with DC on this one. Not that i have the problem. But horns are more of a ON or OFF sort of thing. and the fact that it does it only when cold, makes it more likely a mechanical issue than a electrical one.

Try starting the bike cold, while using a screwdriver as a stethescope if you dont hvae acess to an automotive stethescope. place the tip near the starter. This would help you determine if that is in fact the cause

When it is really cold I get a starter sound as DC mentioned... thinking about it again it could be interpretted as the horn (it isn't but could sound like it is).

I also have a slight "horn/buzz" sound on my beast. Guess it is a characteristic of the machine.
