how big tire 83 xj750rk

    just curious how big of a tire can I fit in the back of my 83 xj750rk looks to be a lot of room, Mines bald so nows the time to change it.

    First, the only benefit of doing this is looks (so that we are clear). You don't have very much space in there to start with... maybe one size.

    I really advise against it...

    Ok, I had the 78 kz650sr with the big fat tire in the back just looked neat. As the old grand prix commercials said wider is better ( unless your on the snow then they suck) Yea just wanted the look

    The more tire there is the more tire makeing contact on the ground. Just remember that tires expand when driveing.

    Jeff, that is not always true on a motorcycle. If you put a tire onto a rim that is too big it pinches. This means the contact patch can actually be smaller than expected, and it also means that the bike falling into a line behaves strangely (not as the manufacture had intended).

    On the maxim you don't actually need any more contact patch... you just want the best rubber making that contact patch.

    If you want the look then you might get away with a larger size. I am not familar enough with the 750 to say what would fit. On the 650 maxim people have squeezed a 140-90-16 in there (some had rubbing, some did not).
