I am able to get my clutch adjusted beautifully but it is constantly going out of adjustment. The knurled fine adjust wheel simply will not hold the adjustment so I have to give it a tweak several times during my normal commutes.

I cannot see any way to secure the knurled wheel because it is captured in a cutout in the lever perch. Am I overlooking something?

Hold the small knurled end (right by the cable) so it can't rotate then tighten the bigger knurled nut against the perch casting.

Fitz - the bike I'm having the trouble with is my 750. It's a bit different than the 550 in that the 550 has the set-up that you mentioned (two knurled thumb wheels). But the 750 only has one and it fits in a recess in the lever perch. I will take a picture after I eat dinner and see what you think.
The Haynes is not any help here because I can't find a decent picture anywhere in the manual that shows the set-up to see if I may be missing something that the PO may have decided was unnecessary. Thanks.

There's supposed to be a ball bearing in that wheel that has stop clicks that keep it from loosing its adjustment. Kind of like how your socket stays on your wrench.

If you're not feeling (hearing) those stop clicks, then it's more than likely broken/missing.

Shim it with a few modified/notched washers and wrap electrical tape around that thing!

KrS14 - I see it. Thanks for the help!
Hirsuit - yeah - makeshift is often how I get through the riding season - thanks.

I see it in the fiche; "stopper." Looks like you've got them in both perches, too.

I guess the remote-Master Cylinder alone wasn't overly complex enough; they had to add another PIECE to a previously simple adjusting wheel.

Yeah I've never honestly come across such a complicated bike. I've seen a 1911 Indian Single board track racer start up easier than mine. Anyway, no problem micro it's usually the route we have to take if it's riding season and we all get pushy.
