    Just joined up not too long ago. I have been trolling this forum for a few years now and it has been extremely helpful with my old XJ650. I finally decided to try and take part in the discussions here after having a bit more experience and confidence with the work I have done.

    The 650 has been sold now but you can see my old photo album of it in my sig. That was my first Yamaha and I promptly fell in love with the XJ type bikes. Since then I moved on to an XJ700N which I have been trying very hard to keep as close to stock as possible(the airbox had already been removed by the time I got to it). I have a terrible tendency to modify things and this is a test in the art of leaving it be :p

    Anyway Im glad to finally be part of the clan, if you live in the central Michigan area and are looking for someone to ride with or just chat about bikes let me know. Otherwise Ill see you all in the forums. :D

    Hey pjk_xj700, thanks for the welcome. Good to know another xj700 owner, I now know of 2 riders that have them in Michigan(the other oddly lives a few blocks away from me!).

    After I sold my xj650 I really wanted to find a similar year xj750, but ran across this xj700 and found it to fit my legs and preferences more. I never cared much for the square headlight on the xj750. Eventually when I think about it more I will try to get some more pics and create an album for it also. Just finished a full LED conversion on it too :)

    Sweet. I'd be interested in an LED conversion too, but haven't really gotten started looking too hard yet.

    If you still have a list / steps of your process, I'd be eager to have a look.

    I had some info that I added to a similar thread the other day. It was one of the first things I came across when searching the forums for LED, surprisingly it also was for a xj700 maxim-x which uses the same wiring for turn signals and whatnot as the standard xj700 air cooled.

    It was an older thread back from December of 2012 but it was the closest I found that applied to the work so I commented there. I may try and backtrack to take some pics and write up a little ditty about how its all done as a separate post and possibly more of an "instructional" type thing. If someone else has written up such a thing I would love comparing notes, but as best as I can see nobody has really written anything up on it. An older member might know where to dredge something up though.
