    Hi Folks

I recently picked up a 1980 XJ650 for my wife to learn to ride on. I search far and wide for a forum and have found xjbikes.com

I just wanted to say hello from Sunny Sydney Australia and here is a photo of the old girl.

She is a beauty! Welcome to the club! Those spokes look like they are off of the older '80 XS lines. Are they original?

Welcome aussie_xj. Nice bike, looks to like it's in good shape. How many miles and what did you pay for it?

They seem to be the same as mine so I'm guessing they are original. Here is a pic of mine http://xjbikes.com/coppermine/displayim ... pos=1.html

Hey guys thanks for the welcome. This is how I picked the bike up so I am not sure on how original it all is. The paint on the tank is a little rough, so I plan to get another one, clean it up and adding a new coat of paint.

I would suggest the speedo has been around the clock and it has stopped in 1223 kilometres.

Brenton, after I posted I saw your post and say you were in Sydney as well. I am out west near Penrith and it was about 5 minutes from home. We got her 2 weeks ago with 7 months rego and paid $1500 AUS dollars for her.

First thing I have did was buy a workshop manual and I have done a oil/filter change + an new air filter. I plan on doing the shaft, forks, plugs, leads on the weekend.

She is a great old bike to ride, the Mrs just has to get used to it. I have fallen in love with her.

    Cheers

Hey SnoSheriff, I just looked at your bike. She is very sweet, well done. The wheels do look the same.

Does the RD250, 350 also share the same type wheel patten as well?

    Hey Brenton

The Mrs goes to Uni at the Penrith Campus as well. She will be starting her 3rd year in Primary Teaching. I am keen to catch up, and shoot the breeze.

I went to the Yamaha dealer in Henry St Penrith for the Oil Filter. It cost me 47 bucks for the filter, 4 litres of Motul 3000 and the drain plug washer. The air filter was 21 bucks and you have to pre-order/pre pay for it.

    Cheers Mark
