    Hi,

I just came across a HSC33 carb that seems to differ from the ones my xj700s has. As shown in the pictures, the pilot mixture screw hole is closed with a brass cap and there's a nipple for a vent tube. On the float bowl is stamped C2 at the place of my forefinger, whereas my other carbs are marked as C3.

The throttlevalve is interchangeble, so I assume it indeed is a HSC33.
Can I just take the brass cap out, insert my rubber plug, and close the nipple?

You may have a carb for the california emissions xj700. (It could also possible that you just have simply the wrong carb somehow)

Then let's just open that brass cap and see how it is designed...

The ca one is simply another port that connects tubes from the carbs to a vapor canister. Then another tube connects the canister to the underside of the CA-specific tank. That tank is designed to vent the vapors back into the tank rather than into the atmosphere.

I have a canister, but have not been able to get one of the tanks yet---
