The SUV run over my shoulder and the left upper part of my helmet.
When I stood up it hurted a lot, like my whole arm was gone, but after 30 minutes or so I could move everything
The cop couldn't believe it, neither the girl that was driving the Durango, or the ambulance guys, or the doctor when I went 2 weeks ago. I had the thread of the tire over my coat and my helmet and I could see the horror in the faces of the people talking to me. I thought I was missing a limb or something...
I am lucky, I want every XJ rider to be as lucky as me.
My fingers felt numb for 3 weeks(even though I could move them), but now I am almost completely recovered (This was the 28 of Oct.)

Thank you guys for your support
Lesson 1- Remember to wear your helmet strapped tight
Lesson 2- Remember that even inside a tunnel you can find water. (I bet they won't fix the leak in the tunnel until somebody dies, I am glad it wasn't me, but it was close)

Good god I hated reading that. Under an SUV tire is never a place I'd like to end up. I'm glad that you are seemingly ok.

It's in bad taste to ask, but I can't help it... The bike is..? Bike heaven?

The bike just lost the left front blinker and has some scratches that just need paint. 36k miles and running like new.

    !!!!

OK, I missed the whole story is this posted somewhere else!?!? Crap, that was horrible, I am glad you are OK.

I am a gear nazi, so I am happy thta you ended your story that way. ATGATT (ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME) I was in a wreck and almost died when I was a teen and I always gear up. In spite of gear though, sometimes you can not be protected from everything, so I guess the man upstairs did not want you yet. :)

Hopefully the bruises and bumps go away soon, glad you are doing fine.

One advantage to being run over by the SUV is that their tires tend to spread the weight out a bit more and most folks tend to run them slightly underinflated (bad idea driving around town). This may have been to your good fortune. I'm very glad to hear you came out as well as you did, indeed, it could have been much worse. ATGATT is worth remembering.

    Hi Gene,
I'm glad to hear you came out of a potentially very bad situation. Usually we hear stories only of bad crashes, it seems. I'm still without knee protection and my boots are Red Wing cruiser style boots, but I always wear a full face helmet, armored jacket and riding gloves. I hope I never need to test them, but they're there.
