Hey guys yu all have been a big help to me so far and i hope you have one more in the bank for me. i just replaced the intake boots on my 82 550 maxim. now it wont start and i dont understand why. it was running before i replaced them so i dont know what i did wrong. is there some step i may have overlooked.

i pulled the airbox out and put a crankase filter on
    replaced the damaged boots
put pod filters on and reattached the carbs
hooked the gas tank back on and put it on prime
    charged the battery.....
and NOTHING! it turns over rappidly as it should but it just wont fire

i'm assuming you put the petcock on PRI to fill the bowls back up?

try taking off one of your pods, spraying a little starter fluid (or carb cleaner) into the intake, and put the pod back on.

sometimes i've found that when i reinstall the carbs, the first start up needs a little help.

So you eliminated the airbox, installed pods, didn't re-jet and are wondering why it won't run?

It probably won't if the carbs are still set up for the stock airbox and filter.

    Good luck.

I would start with a bench sync and check your float heights using gas and the clear tube method. Then be sure your enrichment wells in the float bowls are clean, you're going to need the enrichment circuit ("choke") as you begin to figure this thing out.

There is no set answer to tuning for pods.
