    and then just kept going. Whoever said that once you make the first cut/mod you just keep going with it was definitely right.

    I'm a fan of the wheels. I like that the back wheel is only 16", making the tire look much bigger than it is.

    schooter - I built an intake (that makes it run too rich :( ). There was a thread somewhere on this forum where a member built an intake that connected all 4 carbs and had two inlets with pods on it. It worked in that it gave you the accessibility of pods without the tuning nightmare. For me, the engine just dies at full throttle as there is not enough air in the mix. Makes me want to try pods for a bit... or bore some holes in my intake.

    Done so far:
    minimal wiring, eliminated dummy lights, turn signals, horn, and speedometer. Nightster shocks lowered the back 3".
    Took out airbox, built custom intake. It runs great at idle, horrifically rich at 4k and above RPM. To the point the engine will actually die from the fuel extinguishing the spark. Need to open up the intake some.
    New LED brake light on custom bracket. Right now it rests underneath the cowl of the seat, so even during the day the LED is fairly bright.
    Bent custom license plate bracket.
    Hid starter button.
    Cut off the back, removed front fender and the mufflers.
    Next up --> new seat and turn downs.

    I'll get you guys some more detailed pics. Any good places to get a tutorial on bending and shaping metal? I've only got minimal tools and got here using a hacksaw, files, and some wrenches. May need to expand my tool box.

    Check out Eastwood.com they sell tools and videos Ron Covell is the master. Check youtube for free tutorials I have watched some with guys building body panels, etc.

    Looks like a stacked intake on those carbs. had originally done the same to mine but, to be honest, thought the pods looked cooler. Haha... customization with vanity. LOL

    Old intake. 2 air inlets in the back, covered with foam air filter material.

    New intake. I made my own pods, basically. I took 1.5" abs pipe, cut it to size, stuffed it with foam air filter material and closed it off on both ends by wrapping it in screen mesh. Stuffed it in to 1.5" plastic couplings (which were cut to size) and attached them to the carbs. Seems to be running a bit less rich now, going to take it for a road test soon.

    License plate bracket. This used to be underneath the seat, right above the wheel but then the new shocks came on and it had to move... I keep bumping my leg in to the bracket and bending it. May relocate it later.

    Stock seat pan cut down and contoured to fit the new shape of the bike. I'm going to cut down the original foam seat, and build a box in the foam to house the rectifier and regulator. My plan is to relocated and hide the battery, I like the wide open look.

    View from the back. That LED light is quite bright, I'm going to build a cowl for it to keep direct light from hitting it. The shotgun blanks are temporary, I'm stuffing bulbs in there for brake lights/turn signals (I'm taking the front signals and putting them there. Going to take advantage of the dual filament bulbs.

    Close up on the front. Start button is hidden. The switch on the left is for hi/off/lo on the headlight... I may hide that too.


    This is a budget/recycle build. I'm doing the best with what I have at hand. Total spent so far is $65, for shocks, hose clamps, ABS pipe, and led light plus misc. wires and switches.

    Are there small motorcycle batteries on the market? Are there down sides to using them? I want to move and hide mine, but it's fairly bulky.
