So the other day I was just finishing up doin some little stuff on my bike and i thought to myself, "Wouldnt it be neat if I had not only my current bike, which is an 82 550 xj, but also an 82 550 Seca?" So I thought that i would post on here that I may be in the market for an 82 550 Seca if anyone is interested in selling in a couple of months. It doesnt have to be in perfect condition because i would like to also fix one up. So just keep your eyes and ears peeled if you would. THanks guys

I said the same thing as soon as my '81 was nearing completion: I want another one! You know all three years are the same bike, in different color schemes, right?

'81 was the white with red flashes; '82 would be bright red with black-edged silver flashes, and '83 was black with scarlet/maroon flashes.

'81 and '82 came with the (removable) fairing, they ditched it for '83.

My point being you can pick up a 550 Seca of any year and repaint it as an '82 if you want. The decals for the '82 and '81 are readily available (although there are a couple of horribly inaccurate kits out there.)

Differences between the 550 Seca and 550 Max, beyond the obvious: Frame, front forks, front brake, REAR brake, wheels, valves, carb needles and pilot jets. Believe it or not, they used the same handlebar.

When the weather gets nice, if you wanna ride your Max down here, I'll let you take a Seca for a ride as a comparison.

Meanwhile, I will keep my eyes open for you. Nobody should have only one XJ.
