    Greetings all!

    I have a 1981 XJ550 Maxim that I am rebuilding bit-by-bit.

I am an Assistant Scoutmaster with a Scout Troop, and as such do ALOT of camping. Now sure, I can take a ratchet-strap and sinch everything down, but I still worry about the load shifting. I think that if I can find a sissy bar, I could secure the packs better.

I haven't found any, but have seen pictures of some. Any ideas on where I can find any?

    Thanks in advance!

Lawnmower... Find a lawnmower (a free one preferably) that has a two piece handle. The lower part of the handle that attaches to the mower deck is perfect. Just bend in the sides 'til they fit the width of your bike. There are even bolt holes already on the handles. I did this for a friend of mine as a joke and he has used it quite a bit. Kind of a cool lil trick. Plus it's free if you find a lawnmower somone is throwing out and requires no special tools. Just mount it to either the holes for the grab bar or even make new if ya want.

Here is the one the dealer installed the day I bought it new in 1985. The mounting bar is similar to the one shown by Steven Ball. You might be able to manufacture something similar?
