    Hello
I'm fresh to forums but after reading what you folks are all about I felt comfortable enuf to give 'er a whirl.
I bought an Xj 750 max this fall when a neighbor needed beer money and have been studying the glitches and common ailments that some of your xjs and mine share.
I've ordered some obvious stuff ( wheel bearings, xaust gaskets, etc.).
and it has forced a question about the year. I assume the bike is an '82 but I have yet to see another 82 xj750 with round headlight and guages and handlebars. Can anyone tell me if this might be a piece-meal or were these items mixed or optional or am I maybe not weathered enuf to identify the animal correctly.
My second question in regard to my round tachometer . It is electric operated ( no cable ) and the darn thing either works properly or slow acting , or sometimes it won't move at all. I cant see a pattern and I have tried to clean the plastic terminals on both ends.
Any heads-up would help...Thanx in advance

Sounds like a '83. VIN # will tell for sure. Although these parts could have been swithched with another bike the oil level sensor would also have to be changed. The removal of the computer/gauges would make the sensor incompatable.
