If anyone's wondering what happened to my 85 Ninja ZX900...

Sadly, I had to sell that beast. The thing took over my throttle hand and I ended up with 2 serious speeding tickets in a month. One more and I was looking at a possible 6 month ban. So she had to go. The province of Ontario - and particularly the internal comubstion private vehicle-hating city government of Toronto - want the new speeding laws applied with draconian force.

If you're doing 50 kph (30 mph) over the posted limit, they impound your vehicle right there on the side of the road. Then you're looking at a minimum 30 day ban, several thousand dollars in fines, lawyers, impound fees, court fees, etc. On a city street, okay, I get it. But on the 16-lane Highway 401? It seems like just another cash grab - and incredibly unconstitutional that the cops can act as judge, jury and executioner right there on the side of the road. Luckily neither of my tickets were 50 kph or more over the limit. But I admit it, I was doing 140 kph (84 mph) on an empty freeway late at night. What a joke.

Anyway, as a kind of compensation, I got a baffed out 1981 XS650SH Special from a neighbor - for free! It was in the backyard of his house when he bought the place and had been sitting there under a tarp for a few years apparently. It doesn't have a title or key but I changed the oil and plugs and it started. No smoke! So... here goes another project!
    thx,
    baz

We'll form a small band of heros armed with dragonlances and we'll take care of the viscious stone turning acid burning ticket giving vile vermin.

Congrats on another bike!! Free too?? Lucky dude.. Have fun on your new project. Thats what I am looking forward to here soon

Great idea! Now where do I get a dragon lance... hm...
I noticed the Flat Black Rasta-ed out mentioned about Maxine. I love the Flat Black too. There's no better or cheaper way to make a regular bike look mean and Don't Eff With Me. I buy the stuff by the gallon. Up here in Canuckistan, it's called Tremclad Rust Paint. Stateside I think it's called RustOLeum. Either way, excellent product. I've done my XJ900 Ratbike Touring Beast mostly in Flat Black. But I did the calipers in GLOSSY Black Tremclad. A touch of class, you understand...
    thx,
    baz

Oh yeah!? Well, I had to walk uphill to school - BOTH WAYS!
But seriously, 30kph, eh? Maybe we should all take the engines out of our bikes. You know, just to be on the safe side. We can replace the engines with pedals. Maybe add a small 9V battery powered electric motor to keep the greeners happy too.
