ignition assembly interchangeable?

    I ask this question without having any part numbers and for that I apologize. Just thought there might be a few of you out there with both of these bikes that could compare the parts.

    Is this ignition assembly part from an 81 Maxim XJ 650 interchangeable and have the same connector as the ignition assembly for a '85 Maxim XJ 700?

    If the 3 wire plug-in is exactly the same, it'll work.

    I think TIME is a little confused ;) He's asking about the KEY ignition only.

    As long as it switches wires the same as your bike, and mounts properly it would work.

    Check out some schematics to make sure between the two models.

    I do have doubts it would work tho, you're talking about an '81 to '85 switch.
